ECM010, Cam Controller

Characteristics

The ECM010 is a single axis Electronic CAM Controller capable of driving stepper motors or Digital Input Servo Motors.  Multiple controllers can be connected in daisy chain configuration up to 16 axis.

The electronic CAM function can synchronize with External clock (Encoder signal) or Internal clock (Parameter setting).  the Encoder signal acts as main axis and the synchronized CAM shape generated is the secondary axis.  Internal clock can be used when there is no encoder signal connected.

The CAM shape is generated by the personal computer and downloaded to the ECM-010 controller through RS-232C.  The controller can store up to 16 types of CAM shapes and is used by programs.  When CAM start signal is activated, the synchronous with the external clock speed.

Control System
Microprocessor control system
This unit utilizes the high-performance pulse generator, MPG2031, made by MYCOM.
The exclusive electronic CAM control system made by MYCOM is used. (Patented)
Number of Axes Controlled One axis is controlled.  (Up to 16 axes can be controlled using the daisy chain connection)

The pulse output systems used are the photo-coupler output and the RS-422 output.

Multiple number of units can be connected.

Motors Used The stepping motor or the pulse train input servo motor is used.
Data Held The CAM shapes, programs, and system parameters are set up and held. (Flash memory is used.  It can be re-written 100,000 times).
CAM Shape  16 patterns can be memorized.  The CAM shapes are generated by the computer and downloaded.  One CAM shape is composed of 510 plotting points, maximum.
Programs There are 32 programs and 128 steps stored.  It is possible to store the emergency sequence program which is executed when an emergency occurs.

There are moving commands such as the electronic CAM, the index, the scan , the Home Search, and the complex trapezoidal drive.

System Parameters The systems parameters include the speed mode, the S-character acceleration/deceleration, the motor types, the forward direction, the clock systems, the sensor logic, the backlash, the encoder setup, the operating speed, and the memory initialization.
Input I/O The input I/F includes the program activation, CAM activation, Emergency Stop, 8 general purpose inputs (photo coupler isolated).
Output I/O This includes the Ready, the moving in progress, the Error, and 9 general purpose outputs.
Sensor I/F This includes the forward, the reverse, the near Home, the Home, the Phase A, and the Phase B.
Driver I/F CW/CCW:  Forward direction switching is possible; 2-clock/1-clock switching is possible; Open collector, RS422

Servo On:   On/Off operation possible; photo-coupler isolated

Counter Clear:  One shot output (approx. 50ms); photo-coupler

                          isolated.

Alarm:               Logic change is possible.

In position

Communication RS-232C, 1 channel, 9600 baud, 8 data bits, and 1 speed bit.  No parity check is used.

Up to 16 units can be connected using the daisy chain connection.

Multi-axis Control This includes Encoder, program activation, CAM activation, and Emergency Stop.

RS-232C enables the use of 16 units, maximum.

There is a switch used to set axes for multi-axes control.
