Nyden Corporation’s MAC300 Multi-Axis Programmable Controller Offers Improved
EPROM Chip (in Version 3.4) and Static Memory for Optimal Design and Program
Flexibility.
San Jose, CA – Researchers at Nyden Corporation, the leading designer of
worldwide advanced Motion Control Systems, have dramatically improved their
best-selling MAC300 series of efficient multi-axis programmable controllers to
provide groundbreaking advancements to the movement commands and profiles of
stepper and servo motors. The advanced series complements Nyden’s existing line
of intelligent interpolating controllers already installed and running
successfully in thousands of automated machines worldwide, but represents
extensive improvement in areas of control circuitry, firmware and software. This
advancement gives users of both novice and skilled equipment-designing
experience the most efficient programming capability possible when performing
integrated communication via stand-alone or on-line handshaking operation.
Enhanced features of the MAC300 series resulted from Nyden’s research team
designing an EPROM chip to be stored in the controller housing. The chip
simplifies Motion Controller Technology and provides cost-effectiveness and
versatility in industries encountering extremely hostile or delicate/protective
environments running at very high speed or requiring optimal sound-proof
smoothness. Equipment industries benefiting from integrating the MAC300 to their
systems include developers of: automated processing equipment, robotics,
conveyors, aerospace automation, fiber optic measuring devices, optical control
systems, rugged semiconductor processing equipment, pick-and-place, food
automated systems and fatigue test equipment.
The EPROM chip, labeled internally by Nyden’s engineers as version 3.4,
facilitates safety backup and the unrestricted capacity to retrieve, copy and
store all programmed information to a flip-flop circuit called SRAM. Programmed
data will automatically be stored, even in power off state, for as long as
engineer’s machine is in working condition. Another role of this chip is to
enable users to achieve more flexibility in memory design, and to upload, download, edit and erase control programs multiple
times with optimal ease.
With the improvement of the series, the MAC300 allows users to store 64
programs, greatly exceeding its earlier counterpart of a 32 stored program
limit. Furthermore, the latest firmware simplifies man-machine interfaces with a
new software program for commanding the MAC300. Named “the Commander”, it
decodes encoder signals nearly 100% faster than its preceding program, which
limited the user’s full range of design flexibility by allowing programs to be
downloaded only one at a time.
Additional areas of progress to the latest MAC300 series include: improved
Motion and I/O cards designed specifically for lower power consumption, a new
noise filtering device added to the motherboard, user-friendly windows interface
that helps users write system files at a glance, manual teach mode for efficient
test benching, and up-to-date parameters such as timers, I/Os, encoder status
and registers displayed on the same window.
Nyden’s MAC300 is a popular modular point-to-point Motion Controller that
provides unparalleled programming performance from 1 to 4 Axis and 8 to 32
Inputs & Outputs. The controller gives equipment designers the flexibility of
adding axes of Motion Cards or Input/Output Cards as design requirements change.
Opto-isolated Forward Limit, Reverse Limits, Near Home and Home position inputs
are provided for each Motion Axis. In addition, Active High or Low Sensor Logics
are selectable, while movement profiles for Trapezoidal, Triangular, and
Velocity are easily generated. Additional features and functions include:
BASIC-like programming language, separately defining Acceleration and
Deceleration Rates, performing simultaneous and independent movements, scalable
Encoder Counters up to 8 times the input count, and optional phase inputs of
Encoder Feedback, TTL or Phase Differential A / B and Z (Index). Software and
users’ manual are provided free. Furthermore, flexible Data Registers capable of
being used throughout running programs allow designers to run the system at
maximum speed updates and with the smoothest precision control possible. Step &
Direction Opto-isolated signals, CW & CCW Clocks, and Phase Differential Motor
Driver signals are available. The controller can also be daisy-chained up to 16
controllers on one single RS232-Serial Port (also included free) for optimal
design flexibility. For high volume design requirements, customized versions are
available at a discounted pricing.
